On Tuesday 19th November, CoEXist and Civitas held a joint webinar on automation-ready transport modelling tools. The speakers addressed the question:
How to include Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs) in traffic flow and transport demand simulations?
Daniel Franco (Rupprecht Consult and CoEXist manager) opened the webinar and invited the CoEXist technical experts Peter Sukennik (PTV) and Jörg Sonnleitner (University of Stuttgart) to present the work of the project. Both presenters guided the audience through the new functionalities of the automation-ready modelling tools and to understand the benefits of such functionalities.
In a very practical presentation, Peter Sukennik explained how automated vehicles could be modeled at a microscopic scale, in Vissim. He insisted particularly on one of the new features which allows to model the operation of CAVs in platoons. In the second presentation, Jörg Sonnleitner focused on the modelling of CAVs at the macroscopic level, and the impacts of CAVs on transport demand and travel time performance.
A video recording of the webinar is now available on the YouTube channel of the CoEXist project:
