Automation-ready framework focus group meetings at the CIVITAS Forum 2017 – call for participants

The CoEXist project is looking for cities and stakeholders to participate in a focus group meeting on vehicle automation in urban areas!

Details: Day 2 – Thursday, 28 September, 14:00-16:30. Register here!

The mission of CoEXist is to systematically increase the capacity of road authorities and other urban mobility stakeholders to get ready for the transition towards a shared road network with increasing levels of connected and automated vehicles (CAVs), both in terms of vehicle penetration rates and levels of automation using the same road network as conventional vehicles (CVs). CoEXist will enable mobility stakeholders to get “CAV-ready” or “Automation-ready”– which CoEXist defines as conducting transport and infrastructure planning for automated vehicles in the same comprehensive manner as for existing modes such as conventional vehicles, public transport, pedestrians and cyclists, while ensuring continued support for conventional vehicles on the same network.

This definition is currently being elaborated and fine-tuned further in order to operationalise it into a “Automation-ready framework”, which defines the needs and suggests possible actions for cities during the transition phase towards higher levels of CAVs. The first version of the Automation-ready framework will be presented during the session “Connected and Automated Driving in CIVITAS Cities”.

In order to develop the Automation-ready framework further, the CoEXist project will host two focus group meetings with CIVITAS cities and other experts about their views and needs about the development of the Automation-ready framework. Each meeting will last for an hour with a maximum of 12 participants. Participants are expected to read a three-page summary of the “Automation-ready framework” and to complete an online survey.

All of those who are interested can register here.
